Slavutych town in Chernobyl's shadow

Photographer Vladimir Savran, 65, worked as a photojournalist for seven years (1987 - 1994) inside the radioactive zone after the Chernobyl explosion in 1986.

He is posing in the main town square of Slavutych, where and now works as a studio photographer.

Slavutych rises out of the ashes of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in April 26, 1986. People living near the disaster area were largely moved to the new city, built from scratch for the sole purpose of housing the population displaced by the nuclear accident.
